HYDERABAD: The Bathini Goud family under the auspices of Bathini Harinath Goud on Friday began the distribution of the famous ‘fish prasadam’ to Asthma patients at Nampally Exhibition grounds from 8 am on the occasion of Mrigashira Karte. Telangana Animal Husbandry and Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav took part in the launch of the programme on Friday morning. The annual fish prasadam distribution resumed this year following a three-year break due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme, which started at 8 am on Friday, will continue for 24 hours. More than 25,000 Asthma patients from across the country already made a beeline to the Nampally Exhibition grounds, the venue for distribution, from Thursday evening.

The GHMC and other voluntary organisations are providing breakfast, lunch and drinking water to the people who arrived at the Nampally Exhibition grounds for fish prasadam while Telangana Animal Husbandry and Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Ranga Reddy District Collector Amoy Kumar ensured elaborate arrangements on behalf of the state government and provided 2.5 lakh fishes under the auspices of State Fisheries department.

The Battini family has announced that they were preparing prasadam for around five lakh people this year and had set up special counters for the disabled, elderly and children. In addition, five special counters have been set up at the Gandhi Centenary Hall for VIPs.

Battini's family clarified that fish prasadam could be consumed by everyone except pregnant women.
