HYDERABAD: Bhadrachalam recorded the highest temperature at 43.3 degrees Celsius in Telangana, followed by Khammam, Nalgonda, and Adilabad, each at 43 degrees, on Friday.

Telangana Weatherman T Balaji said, "For the first time this year, the temperature crossed 45°C in Telangana on April 18, 2023. Hyderabad also recorded its highest temperature of the year at 42.8°C, making it the hottest day so far. Similar conditions were expected on April 19, 2024, with scattered storms in Telangana.

"Severe heatwaves are likely to occur between April 27 and May 10, with extremely intense conditions similar to the Post-Amphan heatwave (2020) or Post-Fani cyclone heatwave (2019), where East Telangana recorded 47 degrees and Hyderabad recorded 43-44 degrees. Hyderabad/Telangana should expect some pre-monsoon thunderstorms; the next five days will offer the best chance. While temperatures may not decrease significantly, we can find some relief from scattered storms," he added.
