HYDERABAD: Following a sunny day, some parts of Hyderabad experienced strong thunderstorms and hailstorms on Tuesday evening. Severe rains were reported in areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), including Medipally, Uppal, Nagole, and Dilsuknagar.

Trees were uprooted and electric poles damaged a car in the Madannapet area as a result of heavy rain for just over an hour. A user's video circulated on Twitter highlighted the damage caused by intense thunderstorms, including an electric pole that tumbled on a white BMW car parked on a street in Madannapet.

T Balaji, Telangana Weatherman said, "A powerful thunderstorm of 20 minutes duration was witnessed in areas such as Kapra, Dammaiguda, Uppal, Nagole, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Dilsukhnagar, OU, Ramanthapur, Amberpet will further cover Malakpet, Old city, Koti.

It's now time for a heatwave in the coming days, and the next 10 days will be extremely hot, but scattered storms will return after May 20, though heat waves will be persistent. Temperatures in Hyderabad may reach 42–43 degrees, with many districts reaching 45–48 degrees in the next 10 days," he added.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), dry weather is extremely likely to prevail over Telangana, with maximum temperatures rising by 2°C - 4°C in isolated pockets from May 10 to May 15, 2023.
