HYDERABAD: Leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Anjan Kumar Yadav and Ramulu Nayak and Corporator P Vijaya Reddy staged a protest against the setting up of a stage for Formula E race infront of Indira Gandhi statue on Thursday.

The leaders said that the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road was being covered by the stage and that the stage should immediately be removed and shifted to someplace else.

They also protested against the traffic restrictions which were imposed owing to the E-Prix race.

The TPCC leaders said that citizens were experiencing traffic jams due to the diversions and the arrangement of such a huge race should have been done in the outskirts of the city.

The Formula E race would be held in Hyderabad's Necklace Road, the first time in India. A huge number of police were also deployed around the area following the protests.
