Couple killed as train runs over them at Lingampally Railway station

HYDERABAD: A couple died on Monday evening after they were run over by an express train at Lingampally Railway station in Hyderabad while they were crossing the tracks from platform 3 to platform 1.

According to the Railway police, the couple hailing from East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh alighted from a train on platform number 3 of Lingampally railway station and headed to platform 1 for another train.

However, as the husband and wife were crossing the tracks instead of using stairs, they were hit by a train going from Shankarpally to Secunderabad and they died on the spot.

The Railway police said that the couple could not see the train coming from behind and were crushed by it. The Railway police under the supervision of CI Srinivas registered a case and are investigating it further. The full details of the incident are yet to be known.
