HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand on Sunday called for increased involvement of youth in peacekeeping work at the community level.

Addressing a central peace committee meeting in Hyderabad, attended by over 500 members from seven zones in the presence of all ACPs and above-rank officers of Hyderabad city police, the commissioner said that only young men and women could act as messengers of peace as they could easily connect with the others of the same age.

“We have focused on including younger members of concerned areas to connect with the youth and requested them to be messengers of peace,” he said. These committees play a humongous role in bridging the gap between administration and public and they were always there in times of crises, he added.

He said that a three-tier peace committee structure was put in place, at the police station level, zonal level and at the commissionerate level. “I requested everyone to spare time and do service from the heart rather than for any gain because it is peace and law & order which has leapfrogged Hyderabad and Telangana’s development,” the CP said.
