HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) has successfully apprehended a ganja smuggling network involving individuals from Odisha and Hyderabad and arrested two individuals at Rekulabavi Circle under Medchal Police Station limits. The SOT also seized two kilograms of marijuana from their possession.

The individuals who were involved in the illicit operation were identified as Kaibarta Girdhari from Naupada in Odisha and Nalla Rohit Kumar. Girdhari, the supplier, was earlier arrested in connection with a case registered at Tirumalagiri Police Station. Rohit, on the other hand, worked as an Amazon pickup boy in Devarayamjal and was identified as the receiver in the ganja smuggling scheme

According to the police investigation, Girdhari was involved in marijuana trafficking in Hyderabad since 2009, operating across various locations in the city. He procured two kilograms of marijuana from unidentified sources in Odisha at a rate of Rs. 2,500 per kg and struck a deal with Rohit, a resident of Lal Bazaar, to sell the ganja at Rs. 10,000 per kg. An advance payment of Rs. 10,000 was made through a digital transaction platform.

However, the SOT team apprehended the duo while exchanging marijuana at Rekulabavi Circle in the Medchal area. The team has seized marijuana worth Rs. 20,000, a weighing machine, a cell phone, and small plastic covers.
