Deceased Swiggy delivery boy migrated from AP to Hyderabad to fend for his son’s treatment

HYDERABAD: The family of Durga Prasad, who was killed on being hit by a speeding water tanker at Madhapur in Hyderabad on Wednesday, is stuck in misery with one of his two children suffering from brain tumour. The family from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh came in search of a livelihood and is now devastated by the death of the bread winner.

“We came from Kakinada last month to eke a living in Hyderabad. Now I lost my husband the sole breadwinner of the family,” Akula Prabhavathi, wife of the deceased Durga Prasad, told NewsTAP on Thursday, expounding her tale of heart-wrenching woes.

According to the complaint filed by Prabhavathi, a native of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, and resident of Moosapet in the City, the accident occurred when her husband who was riding a bike to deliver an order took a U-turn from the KFC side at the Shilparamam crossroads near Cyber Tower. The speeding truck coming from Kukatpally’s side hit his bike killing him instantaneously.

She, along with her relatives, was waiting at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary to receive the body of her husband.

Prabhavathi, a mother of two, was trying to help her husband by taking up stitching work. She said that her son, who was 15 years old, had a tumour in his brain and needed constant medical care. Her daughter, who was 12 years old, was in shock and was unable to come to terms with the situation.

According to sub-inspector (SI) Avinash of Madhapur Police Station, the accident occurred around 1.30 pm on Wednesday at the busy intersection apparently due to the negligent and reckless driving of the water tanker driver.
