DGP Anjani Kumar underscores more vigilance in view of election season

HYDERABAD: Director-General of Police Anjani Kumar on Friday underscored the need for more vigilance in effectively maintaining peace and security as the election season was approaching in the State.

At the police headquarters, Anjani Kumar, who paid floral tributes to Ambedkar's portrait, said that it was a privilege to participate in the unveiling of the 125 feet statue of Dr. BR

Ambedkar, which was historically the largest in the country.

A meeting was held on Friday at the DGP office with the Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police (SPs), who came to participate in the unveiling of the largest historical 125 feet statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar in the city.

Anjani Kumar said that all the police officers of the State should be reoriented to build a new society in the spirit of Dr Ambedkar.

Anjani Kumar said that as the elections were approaching, various political parties and organizations in the State would organize more padayatras and public meetings. He said that the performance of peace, security and quantifying the work from special branches was very important on this occasion.

He said that in maintenaning peace and security and sensitizing the protectees, the police department must work with a new strategy in accordance with the new challenges that were faced every time.

He informed the village visit and community outreach programme held in February evoked overwhelming response from all the districts.

"We should do more meaningful and productive visit and improvement over the previous visit and it was ordered to continue this policy more strongly," he said.

As there were many deaths due to road accidents in the State, the police officials had been advised to identify the hot spots of road accidents along with the officials of the Roads and Buildings department concerned and undertake road engineering to prevent road accidents.

Anjani Kumar said that there was an increase in cyber crimes in the world as well as in the State and special measures should be taken to make people aware of these cyber crimes.

He said the cybercrime was not only limited to cities and towns but it had also spread to villages. He said the awareness of people was the only way to prevent these cyber crimes.

For this, at least 10 police officers in every police station in the State had been ordered to be given special training in cyber crime prevention and four police constables should be given advance training.

He informed that the scope of social media had increased significantly in recent times, and in this context, the social media monitoring cell at the SP offices should also be proactive and need to check and update the existing mechanism to quickly take necessary action including countering a wrong report.

Police officers of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda Commissionerates and all the districts had been ordered to keep a special vigilance in the background of the current Ramzan festival.

He said that the behavior of police department staff and officials should be polite with the people and those who visited the police station. He said the police officers, who behaved disrespectfully in any area, would face punishment.
