Drunk carjacker who hit people at Panjagutta escapes from police custody

HYDERABAD: Aamir Ali, the drunk carjacker who hurt several people at Panjagutta while trying to flee with the rented vehicle he carjacked on Friday, has escaped from police custody on Saturday. Police launched a massive search and are trying to nab the carjacker.

Aamir Ali booked a car using the Zoom App a few days ago with the intention to runway with the car. He tampered with the chassis number of the car he rented and also changed the number plate of the car to conceal the real identity of the car.

When Ali, did not return the car at the said time, Mohan Reddy the rightful owner of the car filed a complaint with the SR Nagar police and also started searching for the car on the run. Mohan Reddy and his friend Harish finally spotted Ali and the car and chased him on a scooter. Ali noticed that he was chased and tried to escape by driving menacingly.

After hitting several pedestrians near Panjagutta he finally abandoned the vehicle and tried to run away. However, he fell and was caught by Mohan Reddy and his friend. They handed over Aamir Ali to the police who sent him for first aid to Gandhi Hospital. A case was registered under sections 336, Section 420, and sections 183 and 184 of the MV Act.
