HYDERABAD : Known affectionately as "Babai" by his dear ones, distinguished senior journalist and political analyst CHVM Krishna Rao (64) passed away on Thursday after he succumbed to cancer that he was fighting for the past one year.

Krishna Rao's remarkable 47-year career was a testament to his unwavering dedication to the field of journalism.

Krishna Rao's journey began as a stringer in 1975, and he quickly rose through the ranks, leaving an indelible mark on the English and Telugu daily newspapers he contributed to including Eenadu, Andhraprabha, Andhrabhoomi, Deccan Chronicle, and The New Indian Express. His longest and most impactful role was as the chief of the news bureau for Deccan Chronicle, where he served for 18 plus years.

Krishna Rao's keen insights and unrelenting pursuit of truth earned him respect throughout the journalistic community. Tragically, his battle with cancer over the past one year, ended all too soon. He is survived by his beloved wife, son, daughter, and two cherished grandchildren. In his illustrious career, he held no regrets and had countless people to thank for his successes, his family said in a memorium.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao condoling the demise of Krishna Rao remembered him as a senior journalist with progressive thoughts. “His writings and his debates on live television were thought-provoking,” the Chief Minister in a statement said. He said that Krishna Rao’s death was a loss to the field of journalism. He offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his message expressed grief over the passing away of senior journalist Krishna Rao, popularly known as Babai, who rose from humble beginnings to high levels in Telugu and English journalism. The Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
