HYDERABAD: Major arterial roads around secretariat including the Telugu Thalli flyover will be closed from February 5, in view of the Formula E races on February 11 and Secretariat inauguration on February 17.

Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari on Tuesday conducted a high-level review meeting to chalk out the strategy for security arrangements for the Formula E races on February 11 and the inauguration of new BR Ambedkar Secretariat building complex on February 17.

The officials have taken several decisions for the smooth conduct of the two events. The officials decided to close the roads from Telugu Thalli Flyover to Khairatabad Flyover, Mint Compound to I Max from February 5 in view of the most prestigious Formula E-Racing to be held on February 11 and advised the citizens to choose alternate routes.

Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari has briefed the officials of the Police Department, Roads and Buildings, GAD, Telangana Special Police, IT and other departments to work in coordination to make elaborate security arrangements for the inauguration of the BR Ambedkar Secretariat. It was decided to deploy security personnel from three companies of Telangana Special police, 300 city police officers besides 22 traffic officers. The officials decided to arrange security devices like luggage scanners, vehicle scanners, body scanners and others.

While coming to the features of the New Secretariat Complex, it was built on a total area of 9.42 square metres spread across 28 acres. It has a parking facility for 560 cars and 900 two-wheelers. Six sentry posts are being set up around the Secretariat.

A special command control room to monitor 300 CCTVs and two fire tenders with 34 personnel were being set up to provide adequate security. A specially designed system of issuing ID cards to visitors was also brought in with limited access to the floors except the sixth floor that houses the Chief Minister’s office among others.

The meeting was attended by DGP Anjani Kumar, Special Chief Secretary to Government Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary IT Department Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary Roads and Buildings Department Srinivasa Raju, City Police Commissioner CV Anand, SPF DG Umesh Shroff, Additional DG Sanjay Kumar Jain, DG Fire Services Nagi Reddy. Intelligence Additional DG Anil Kumar, ENC Ganapathi Reddy, along with senior officials of various departments also took part in the meeting.
