HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police arrested two accused persons Bellary Pavan Kumar a resident of Chennai and Soudri Basavaraj of Kurnool for cheating customers online and committing forgery in the name of Chola MS General Insurance company.

Following a complaint from a victim that some cyber fraudsters contacted him in the name of renewing his general insurance policy through Chola MS General Insurance Co. Ltd. and collected the amount by transferring the money into the bank accounts provided by them.

The Cyber Crime Police registered a case under sections 66(C) 66(D), 66 R/w 43 IT Act and 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 470, and 471 IPC and started an investigation.

The duo collected the amount on the pretext of renewing their insurance policies by using Chola MS General Insurance company’s name. For committing these cyber frauds, the accused provided bank accounts to insured people and cheated them. They both committed fraud to the tune of Rs 1,88,599. The police seized seven mobile phones, two laptops, six ATM cards, and six SIM cards

A team headed by inspector of police K.Prasad Rao along with team Abhishek, SI, Hariram, ASI, HC Srinivas, and PCs Satish, Bhaskar, Murali, Naveen, Kranthi, Venkatesh of PS cyber crime under the direct supervision of A.V.Ranganath IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crimes & SIT, Hyderabad and D.Kavitha, DCP, Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad and R.G Siva Maruthi, ACP, Cyber Crime PS, Hyderabad has cracked the case.

Police cautioned the public not to believe fraudulent online websites and also not to trust fake calls in the name of insurance companies, and also not to follow unauthorised websites.
