HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Ronald Rose on Wednesday asked sanitation officials to systematically eliminate Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs).

During a developmental review meeting in the Serilingampally Zone, Commissioner Ronald Rose assessed sanitation efforts in Yosufguda, Serilingampally, Chandanagar, Ramachandrapuram, and Patancheru. The inspections included aspects such as the disposal of garbage to sewage treatment plants (STPs), the quantity of vehicles operating in each circle, the handling of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste material, handling of sanitary field assistants (SFA), and the attendance of sanitation worker groups.

Rose asked the officials to collaborate with resource persons from the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) to conduct Education and Communication (IEC) activities in colonies. He also asked officials to provide dustbins in gated communities for source-based garbage collection and the removal of disused public toilets.

During an inspection with Zonal Commissioner Serilingampally Sneha Shabharish, Addl. Commissioner Sanitation Sri. Upender Reddy, and officials from Engineering, UBD, and Town Planning, Rose assessed engineering works such as boundary walls and walkways around Durgam Cheruvu. Deputy Commissioners, Joint Commissioner Sanitation, and other senior officials from the Engineering, UBD, and Sanitation wings participated in the inspection.
