HYDERABAD: The Additional Director-General Police of Intelligence has instructed all unit officers concerned to withdraw personal security — gunmen — to all former MLAs.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the Addl DG - Intelligence said:

“Please refer to security arrangements provided to the ex-MLAs in Telangana State. In this regard, it is decided to withdraw the PSOs provided to all the ex-MLAs by the Unit Officers concerned. Therefore, all Unit Officers in the State are requested to take necessary action to withdraw the PSOs provided to all the ex-MLAs in their respective jurisdiction immediately and report compliance.”

Incidentally, 62 MLAs of Bharat Rashtra Samithi lost the elections and became former MLAs afresh.

The decision is seen more political in nature. However, there are several former MLAs of all parties and those who had served as MLAs in undivided Andhra Pradesh living in Telangana.

It’s to be seen how the State Government would handle the situation after assessment
