HYDERABAD: Heavy downpours lashed the entire Hyderabad city on Thursday. Heavy rains will continue to drench the city for the next two hours as already storms started forming in Hyderabad.

Weathermen noticed Cumulonimbus development that might result in thunderstorms affecting the normal life of the citizens in the next few hours particularly those returning from their offices. Water-logged conditions and inundation of low-lying areas are expected.

Yousufguda received the highest rainfall at 51.3 mm, followed by Khairatabad with 48.0 mm, Adarsh Nagar with 44.3 mm, and Srinagar Colony with 42.8 mm.

Due to heavy rain, and water logging at NFCL, Monappa, traffic movement is slow from Chutneys, NFCL, Punjagutta, Somajiguda, and Prajabhavan towards Begumpet Flyover. Punjagutta police are regulating traffic. Commuters are requested to take alternate routes.

Similarly due to water logging at NMDC, and Medwin Hospital, traffic movement of vehicles is slow from Mehdipatnam, SD Eye Hospital, Humayun Nagar, NMDC, and Masabtank. Asif Nagar Traffic Police are regulating traffic.

The IMD predicted heavy to moderate rains in all the zones under the GHMC area coupled with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph. The weather would be cloudy for the rest of the night and Friday also.

SRH-GT IPL match washed out

Meanwhile, cricket fans are eagerly gathered outside Uppal Stadium for the SRH vs GT match, but it seems the rain has thwarted their hopes of witnessing the game.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few places over Telangana. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana.
