HMDA retorts to Revanth Reddy’s warning, refuses to withdraw legal notice

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) responded to TPCC President Revanth Reddy's warning by saying that it had no plans to revoke the legal notice that was delivered on its behalf on May 25, 2023.

The HMDA has strongly opposed Revanth Reddy's tactics of using specific officials to cast aspersions and political reasons on the performance of officers or an institution.

The HMDA said in an official statement that it functions under the direction and authority of the State Government. Officers and departments work under the general supervision and control of the Council of Ministers and the State government while carrying out their duties in line with the rules.

The HMDA further explained that the ORR TOT bid process was carried out in the most transparent manner possible, in compliance with the National NHA's TOT bidding rules. It said that the TOT bid for 30 years was in accordance with the Council of Ministers' resolution and that two HAI bids for a term of 30 years were finished, therefore, this was not the first time a TOT bid for 30 years had been executed.

The HMDA points out that all officers involved in the bid process acted transparently, in compliance with state government regulations, and within the scope of conduct rules in the most unbiased manner. The legal notice, dated May 25, 2023, was sent to MP Revanth Reddy to remove the allegations, some of which were intended to demoralise personnel who are simply carrying out their duties judiciously and transparently.

The HMDA further emphasised that they responded swiftly to the MP's RTI enquiry within the statutory timelines, and there was no question of concealing any information relating to the ORR TOT bid process. The HMDA added that it would not be intimidated or browbeaten in the performance of its official duties and would take all necessary steps to safeguard itself and its officers, including taking appropriate legal action.
