HYDERABAD: Telangana State capital was battered by heavy rains, flooding several colonies across the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) area. The rain was recorded in excess of 14 cm at different places.

Many colonies and two engineering colleges were marooned in the Maisammmaguda colony in Medchal. DRF teams have rescued students with the help of cranes. The water level rose up to the first floor.

Students were stranded in the apartments. They were transported out with the help of tractors. Cyberabad Police Commissioner advised IT companies in Hitech city, Gachibowli, the Financial District and other clusters to stagger their timings. He advised the IT companies to prefer from home.

Heavy traffic jams were reported from Panjagutta, Tolichowki and other densely populated areas. Venkateswara colony in Malkajgiri witnessed flood waters washing away several motorcycles. Water-logged areas included Shaikpet flyover, Krishna Nagar, Moosarambagh bridge, Uppal, Chintal, Balaji Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Yousufguda and Erragadda.

Kukatpally nala is overflowing and as a result, water is flowing on the roads. All the colonies in Begumpet were flooded. Mantris Imporia villas near ORR at Manchirevula were flooded by rainwater. Vikarabad-Parigi road was closed as rainwater was flowing on the road.

Gates: 4 opened for 2 feet height.
