Hyderabad customs seize 8 kg smuggled gold worth Rs 4.86 cr at RGIA

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Customs officers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) arrested four passengers and seized a total of 8 kg of smuggled gold worth Rs. 4.86 crore on Saturday.

In the first case, an amount of 2 kg of cut gold bars worth Rs. 1,21,34,000 was found concealed in the trousers of a passenger who arrived from Bangkok.

In the second case, 1.78 kg of cut gold bars worth at Rs. 1,08,81,165 were discreetly hidden garments and recovered from a passenger who landed on the same flight from Bangkok.

Further, in the third case, gold in paste form was concealed by a passenger who arrived from Sharjah and was found to be carrying 2.17 kg of gold, valued at Rs. 1,31,77,524. In the fourth case, 2.05 kg of gold worth Rs. 1,24,31,283 was seized from the undergarments of a traveller from Dubai.

Accordingly, a total of 8 kg of smuggled gold worth at Rs. 4.86 crore was seized, and all four accused were arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act. Further investigation is underway.
