HYDERABAD: A girl from Hyderabad, who went to pursue higher education in Nottingham, United Kingdom (UK), was stabbed to death by a Brazilian youth. The deceased was identified as K Tejaswini Reddy (27), a native of Brahamanapalli village, Hayatnagar mandal of Rangareddy district. Her parents are residing at Turkayamjal.

According to reports, Tejaswini Reddy was pursuing higher education at the University of Nottingham, London, and staying with her friends. On Tuesday morning, the Brazilian youth attacked Tejaswini Reddy and Akhila (28) with a knife at a residential property in Neeld Crescent, Wembley.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and two women were treated for stab injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Tejaswini was seriously injured in the incident and died on the spot. Akhila sustained grievous injuries in the attack and her health condition is said to be stable. A case has been registered, the 23-year-old Brazilian youth was arrested following a fatal stabbing in Wembley and further investigations are underway.

Only six months back, Tejaswini came to Hyderabad to see her father who was unwell then. The family, which was hoping to see her back soon in Hyderabad on completion of her higher studies in the UK, is devastated by the tragic news. Tejaswini’s parents were also in plans for her marriage on her return. A pall of gloom descended on Brahmanapalli with family, relatives, friends and neighbours mourning the young girl’s death.

Why Tejaswini and Akhila became the target for the assailant’s attack was not immediately known. Full details of the incident are awaited.
