Hyderabad Metro ridership crosses 40-cr mark

IT employees formed the biggest user base of Hyderabad Metro at 1.4 lakh per day while students made for the second largest chunk of passengers at 1.2 lakh a day

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has announced that its ridership had crossed the 40-crore mark on July 1, 2023, since its inception on November 29, 2017.

According to an official press release issued here on Saturday, HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy said that the number of passengers boarding the Metro Rail for daily purposes had been increasing steadily. "The Metro is currently seeing around 4.9 lakh passengers daily. We are expecting the numbers to increase to 5 lakh in the coming days," he said.

NVS Reddy said that, as per the calculation method followed by the Union Government, around 4.9 lakh passengers had clocked 6.7-lakh passenger trips.
