HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police on Wednesday apprehended a Nepali burglary gang after they looted an apartment in Secunderabad's Om Towers a few days ago.

While addressing the media, Hyderabad police Commissioner CV Anand disclosed the details of the robbery. The police also seized stolen goods such as Rs.41,60,410 in cash, diamonds and gold items weighing about 2.8 Kgs, silver items weighing about 9.56 Kgs, 18 wrist watches, nine smart phones including 4 iPhones, activa vehicle, and innova vehicle, all worth approximately Rs.5 crores.

Rahul Goel, the victim, and his family members, residing at Om Towers, run the iron and steel business. Shankar Maan Singh, the main accused, was working as a security guard at Om Tower Apartments and living in a room with his wife and son.

Shankar Maan Singh observed Rahul Goel and his family members' movements and discovered that they happen to be extremely wealthy. They planned on robbing Rahul Goel's house so that he could relocate to Nepal with his family.

He plotted the robbery with his fellow workers who work as security guards in nearby apartments. He discussed his plan of action with the remaining accused persons, and on the night of July 9, 2023, while the victim and his family members were away from their home. The accused persons carried out their plan by breaking open the main door lock and committed burglary.

The accused persons shared the booty after the theft. They threw some empty jewellery boxes in Rahul Goel's room. The gang looted the house and fled with stolen cash of Rs.49 lakhs, diamonds, gold ornaments, and silver ornaments from Rahul Goel's flat. They later took a private bus from Kukatpally to Pune and switched off their cell phones.

A case was registered in Ramgopalpet police station, North Zone, Hyderabad City, under Cr.No.134/2023 U/s 457, 380 IPC.

The police verified the CCTV cameras and obtained information regarding the movements of the accused. North Zone Police consistently offered technical assistance to Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB) to nab the offenders. The accused were apprehended by SSB officers at Barshola Check Post on July 13, 2023, around 7:30 a.m.

On July 14, 2023, a police team arrived at Barshola Check Post and nabbed three individuals. Their confessions were recorded, and the stolen jewels, gold, and silver were confiscated. The three accused were brought to Hyderabad on Transit Warrants

The remaining few were apprehended in Begumpet when they returned to Hyderabad for treatment of the third accused, who was hurt in a fall while escaping in Pune. During interrogation, they admitted to committing the crime alongside the remaining the accused.

The remaining three accused, Bharath Bista, Bharathi Saud, and Pooja Saud, are currently absconding. All of the arrested accused were brought before court in Secunderabad for judicial remand.
