HYDERABAD: Hyderabad has been ranked as the top Indian city for hiring software developers and it stood at the 10th position in the list of Top 20 cities to hire software developers worldwide.

The list was released by Karat, a technical hiring agency. Other Indian cities to be listed in the rankings were Chennai ranked at 12, Gurgaon ranked at 13, Bangalore ranked 15, Pune at 17 and Mumbai stood at 20.

Hyderabad has seen an immense growth in the IT sector with more companies investing in the city as well as more startups being developed in facilities like T-Hub.

In the list, Hyderabad was preceded by cities like Singapore, New York and London.

The report also said that India has a high volume performance which was on par with the software developer hiring performance in most US cities. It read, "Continuing the trend of strong engineering markets across South East Asia, six cities in India made the top 20 this year–more than any country outside of the United States. One unique dynamic about the Indian market is that candidate volume is extremely high compared to other high-performing developer markets. The continued investment from global companies to support the accelerating digitization trend is adding fuel to the fire. As a result, six cities across India: Hyderabad, Chennai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai, rank alongside emerging tech hubs in the U.S. such as Washington D.C. and Austin, and ahead of other top cities like Los Angeles, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh.

Recruiter efficiency is at a premium, due to the unique mix of volume and high performance, as employers sift through a high volume of qualified applicants to identify top candidates. To combat this, talent leaders across India are increasing their investments in HR tech and recruiting vendors while also forming collaborative communities on platforms like Whatsapp’s “Recruitment Remote!” channel to help facilitate dialog among industry peers."

The official Twitter handle of Telangana’s IT Minister KTR, the man responsible for the fast paced growth of the IT sector in the city and state, tweeted, “Hyderabad - the number 1 city in India & 10 in the World! Happy to see #HappeningHyderabad in the list of Top 20 cities for hiring software developers WORLDWIDE.Speaks volumes about the remarkable growth Telangana has achieved in IT/ITeS sector.”
