Hyderabad witnesses sudden downpour in several areas

Light to moderate rain is expected in several areas of Telangana over the next three days

HYDERABAD: Residents of Hyderabad on Tuesday witnessed a sudden downpour in parts of the city including Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Khairatabad Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills and Madhapur area.

The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rain and scattered light over Hyderabad, Jangaon and Mahabubabad. Thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speed less than 40 kmph in Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Suryapet and Warangal districts on August 23, 2023.

According to IMD, low-level winds are flowing from the northwest or west into Telangana state on Tuesday. Light to moderate rain is expected in several areas of Telangana over the next three days.

According to the Telangana Weatherman, Hyderabad experienced scattered and isolated rainfall due to heat and some humidity. Scattered rains are also expected in Jangaon, Yadadri-Bhongir and Nalgonda districts.

Telangana Weatherman T Balaji said, "High heat and some moisture can cause scattered thunderstorms in Central and East Telangana during the afternoon and night hours. The remaining parts will have isolated rains. Hyderabad can expect scattered rains and storms during the afternoon and night. Widespread rains are not expected."
