HYDERABAD: Traffic is all set to further ease between the busy Indira Park and VST with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) making all necessary efforts to open the steel flyover soon for the convenience of the public, said GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose on Monday.

The GHMC Commissioner accompanied by Musheerabad MLA M Gopal and the project engineering officials visited the flyover and examined the ongoing works. “To improve the signal free transport system in Greater Hyderabad without traffic disruption, 48 works have been undertaken by Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) and 35 works have been completed so far. A deadline is fixed to complete the remaining 13 works on a war footing basis,” Ronald Rose said.

MLA Gopal said that Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) would soon inaugurate the steel flyover. The 2.62 km long steel flyover was equipped with four lanes and it is a bi-directional elevated corridor being built under the Telangana Government’s ambitious SRDP at an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore, he said.

“At present, vehicle users are facing a harrowing time commuting to Osmania University, Tarnaka, Amberpet and Uppal via Indira Park, Ashok Nagar and RTC X Roads. Once the Indira Park-VST steel flyover is inaugurated, traffic snarls at three busy junctions in the central part of the city i.e. at VST Junction, Indira Park X-Road, and RTC X-Roads would become a thing of the past,” the MLA said.

Later, Gopal and Ronald Rose visited Indira Park. The GHMC Commissioner interacted with the walkers in the park and enquired about the facilities to be upgraded in the park.
