HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a circle inspector (CI) working in IT cell created a ruckus by driving his car under the influence of alcohol and collided head on with a vegetable van on Saturday.

Two people who were traveling in the vegetable van sustained severe injuries and their health condition is said to be critical.

The accused was identified as Srinivas Arimilli. Six traffic challans included over speeding/dangerous driving, Stopline crossing, No stopping or Standing, Disobedience of orders, Wrong parking in the carriageway between October 12, 2022 and April 21, 2023 were filed against his car TS09EY3330 under Rachakonda, Hyderabad and Nalgonda police commissionerates.

Instead of enquiring about the victims after the incident, Srinivas argued with them, asking how they could hit a police officer's car. He even threatened them in the guise of ACP. Alerted locals caught him and surrendered him to Bolarum police. They conducted a breath analyser test and came to know that he consumed alcohol way above the limit of 201 points.

The police registered a case and further investigations are underway into the incident.
