HYDERABAD: As the new Secretariat has become fully operational, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has proposed to build twin towers around the vicinity of the Secretariat to house all heads of various government departments bringing the offices of all Heads of Departments (HODs) to one place. KCR on Monday decided to build their offices in an integrated place near the Secretariat in view of the fact that HODs and other officials worked closely with the Secretariat. The Chief Minister asked the officials about the number of full-time staff working under the HODs in various the government departments.

He asked the officials to find a spacious government land available near the new Secretariat for the construction of the twin towers.

KCR asked officials to lay more emphasis on organising the 21-day decennial Telangana State Formation Day celebrations in a grandiose manner from June 2. He reviewed the arrangements at a meeting at Dr BR Ambedkar's Telangana Secretariat today ( Monday ) and discussed progress in the management and arrangements made for the formation day celebrations. Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari briefed the Chief Minister about the steps being taken by the respective departments to hold the programmes on a daily basis from June 2.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over building the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat to make the country proud and the employees and secretariat staff were performing their duties in a pleasant environment. KCR enquired with the Chief Secretary about the completion of infrastructure and availability of services in the new Secretariat which was inaugurated a month ago.

Sub-committee will finalize modalities in two days

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government was committed to supporting the communities engaged in traditional occupations. He said that the state government would financially support Rajaka, Nayi Brahmin, Pusala, Budagajangala and other castes of BC, MBC in the state who depended on their traditional occupations. Chairman of the Cabinet sub-committee and BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar explained to the Chief Minister that the state government had already announced financial assistance of Rs one lakh and the same would be provided to them in a phased manner. KCR asked the minister to finalise the procedures at the earliest and launch the scheme on Welfare Day as part of the 21-day fete.

After the review meeting, KCR inspected the construction of the Martyrs' Memorial. He wanted the R&B officials to make arrangements for a grand celebration of the decennial state formation day celebrations commemorating the sacrifices of the martyrs. KCR suggested to officials to install “Telangana Talli Statue” in front of the martyrs memorial. He wanted the statue be adorned with beautiful fountains on either side.

Later, KCR inspected the bridge works at BRKR Bhavan. The bridge was being built to ensure that traffic was not disrupted at the new Secretariat.
