HYDERABAD: A massive fire broke out on the fifth floor of Tapadia's Maruti Infinity Mall in Chandanagar on Saturday, leaving three out of five screens gutted in the blaze.

However, there were no casualties reported as the fire accident happened in the morning and the fire brigade personnel doused the fire with four fire tenders. According to fire officials, around 6 am, the control room received a call about smoke emanating from Tapadia Mall in Chandanagar.

Upon obtaining the information, teams from Disaster Response and Fire Services rushed to the spot. The officials said that the fire rapidly spread to the three screens barring the first and fifth. Four fire brigades brought the fire under control to prevent it from spreading to the sixth and seventh floors of the mall.

When the fire officials were questioned whether the mall had permission, the officials said that the building had obtained permission besides maintaining fire safety equipment. However, they clarified that there were no operational staff and hence the fire spread rapidly to all the screens.

The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Serilingampally Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy had been monitoring the situation.
