Man poisons lover in Visakhapatnam, escapes after woman proposed marriage

HYDERABAD: In a horrific incident, a boyfriend poisoned his lover after she asked him to marry her in Visakhapatnam. Shekar and Ratnakumari were working as software engineers and were in a relationship for the last six years. The relationship was smooth untill Ratnakumari asked Shekar to marry her. However the later was not ready for it.
As pressure mounted, Shekar called Ratnakumari to a hotel room about 10 days ago saying that they both would commit suicide. While Ratnakumari consumed poison and was admitted to a hospital, Shekar is absconding.
Meanwhile, Ratnakumari breathed her last on Monday morning. The relatives of the deceased alleged that Shekar didn't accept the marriage proposal and killed Ratnakumari. The police have registered a case and are investigating it.
