Modi participates in roadshow, Koti Deepotsavam, prays for stranded Uttarakhand workers

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his three-day visit to Telugu States on Monday with a successful 2-km long road show. The roadshow started from RTC Cross Roads and ended at the Kacheguda Cross Roads.

Narendra Modi, accompanied by Telangana BJP president and union Minister G Kishan Reddy and MP K Laxman waved at the cheering crowds all the way while petals were showered on him. Tight security was provided all through the way by the State and Central police force. As a security measure, Chikkadapally and Narayanguda Metro stations were shut down for a few hours. Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to the statue of Veer Savarkar after reaching Kacheguda.

Later, the Prime Minister visited the Gurudwara at Ameerpet. He participated in the Guru Nanak Jayanthi celebrations. The organisers presented him with a saropa and kirpan.

He then arrived at the NTR stadium near Indira Park and participated in the Koti Deepotsavam organised by the Rachana group.

“I feel fortunate to be here on this auspicious day. I am the MP of Varanasi, today Dev Deepavali is being celebrated there. I couldn't go there, but I fulfilled that loss today by being a part of Koti Deepotsavam. Today I had darshan in Tirumala, the feeling before God can't be explained,” Narendra Modi said addressing the gathering.

He said that he prayed for the welfare of all the countrymen and women in Tirumala. He said that all Indians must pray for the safe return of the workers struck inside the Uttarakhand tunnel. He said that the family members of the stranded workers must be given confidence through prayers.

“Today is Gurnanak Jayanthi, I went to Ameerpet Gurdwara,. I also had blessings of the people too. I have participated in several media programs. But this is different, NTV gave me a chance to meet all of you,” the PM said adding that Telugus had been torchbearers of culture and tradition.

He said that the Telugu States were endowed with holy places such as Tirupati, Yadadri, Bhadrachalam, Srisailam and poets like Nannayya, Tikkana, Yogi Vemana, Annamayya.

“Today we are seeing this tradition getting stronger and stronger. Even one light is considered as God's reflection as it drives away darkness. Today we light lights to join people together, he said that whenever a festival is celebrated the local communities benefit from that.," he said.

“Whenever we purchase something locally made we enlighten their lives too. Very soon Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will be ready. The Central Government is also developing Ramappa temple, Bhadrachalam, Jogulamba, and efforts are made to make Bratukamma, Medram jatara, and Sammakka Saralakka famous all over the country,” he added.
