HYDERABAD: Shudrka Hyderabad, a theatre group that is spreading the art and culture of theatre across the city and other places, is all set to organize a three-day festival, from March 24 to March 26, with an intent of highlighting the art form’s true essence.

The festival would bring forth to the people of Hyderabad good theatre done under copious constraints subsequently bringing forth extensive experimentation done with the craft. Foremost, it is an attempt of a Cultural Exchange with groups coming from far and long, in many cases from small towns or even villages, and facilitate building a culturally conscious community, especially youths with a goal to promote and reflect diversity.

The festival will begin with a Hindi Play called ‘Ek Durachari Raaja’. The Play tells the story of a despot and the eternal struggle of men against tyranny with a glimmer of hope for the future.

On March 25, a make-up workshop with Debashish Chatterjee would be organised. Specialized in theatrical and show makeup in Blind Opera and Bratyojon, the make-up artist works on national and regional live productions, photo shoots and film sets of Tara TU, Alpha TU and Aakash Bangla, Web-series like Pinki Rani, and can easily adapt to a variety of working situations. He was the make-up artist for the award-winning film titled "THE VILLAGE BOY".

On the same day, a Bengali play ‘Hanskhari Hans’, which revolves around Bhishma, Dhritarashtra, Pandoo, Abhimanyu, Shantanu - with Daily-wage Labours, Landless Farmers, Street Child and Beggars - ALL are in the same queue towards a better life. They cross the border and are in a big city. This is a new battlefield but they're tired and wish to take rest under a tree.

On March 26, another Bengali play ‘Tota Kahini’ would be performed. This story by Rabindranath Tagore depicts the plight of a parrot, a bird that was free, singing and flying happily, eating juicy fruits from the King's palace garden. Until one day the King, out of sheer desire to exhibit superiority, orders to catch the bird and goes on with the charade of educating the bird while in reality killing it.
