HYDERABAD: Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) seems to have made up his mind to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The whimsical leader not only ordered the removal of all pink paraphernalia in front of his house and camp office but updated his Wikipedia credentials mentioning his political affiliation as BJP.

While his latest media interaction with Mynampally Hanumanth Rao in which he expressed no remorse on his comments on Finance Minister T Harish Rao, indicated that he was buying time just to test the nerves of the BRS. In an audio released to the media, on Saturday Hanumanth Rao heaped new allegations on BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao’s family in connection with some land deal.

KCR, while declaring the first list of candidates, made no move to shunt him out of the party, Mynampally seems to have made up his mind to become a political martyr by throwing barbs on the party that gave him a very very long rope, in the hope that the party would remove him.

However, his latest move to join the BJP might land him in a lot of trouble as he already had an alter-ego clash with the BJP Telangana unit’s former boss and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay. In August 2021, after the Independence Day celebrations at Malkajgiri, a clash between the BJP and the BRS leaders escalated, and Bandi Sanjay and Mynampalli engaged in a no-holds-barred verbal duel.

While the Karimnagar MP called Mynampally a land grabber and explained how he stopped Mynampally from joining the BJP, the Malkajgiri MLA called Bandi Sanjay bald and ‘bachcha’. “I will break his head if ever entered Malkajgiri,” Mynampally said in his own inimitable style.

However, Mynampally’s latest move temporarily put an end to ‘going to Congress’ speculations. While the BRS denied Medak ticket to Padma Devender Reddy, making its move, one must wait and see how Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, once a ‘Samaikhya Andhra’ protagonist, would respond.
