Nalgonda in Telangana, Begumpet in Hyderabad hit record temperatures

HYDERABAD: Nalgonda district recorded the highest temperature in Telangana state on Tuesday. Nalgonda reported 44.8 degrees Celsius on May 16, 2023, making it one of the hottest districts in Telangana, followed by Khammam, which recorded 43.4 degrees.

Even on May 17, Nalgonda and Khammam were considerably hotter, at 43.8 degrees and 43.4 degrees respectively. On May 16, Nalgonda and Khammam had temperatures that were 3.8 and 3.3 degrees above normal, respectively, while on May 17, Nalgonda had temperatures that were 2.8 degrees above normal and Khammam had temperatures that were 3.3 degrees appreciably above normal.

Bhadrachalam recorded 42.4 degrees, Ramagundam 42.6 degrees, Hanamkonda 41.5 degrees, Adilabad 41.3 degrees, Medak 41.5 degrees, and Mahabubnagar 40.0 degrees on Wednesday.

Begumpet in Hyderabad hit 39.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, followed by Rajendranagar at 39 degrees, Hayathnagar at 38.6 degrees, and Patancheru at 38 degrees.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad, Telangana state reported maximum temperatures of 41 degrees Celsius and above in various places, with the highest being 43.8 degrees Celsius in Nalgonda. Dry weather is likely to occur in Telangana state for the next three days.

Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Nagarkarnool districts are likely to record 43°C and 44°C on May 18 in these districts as well as in the northeastern districts. IMD predicts that Hyderabad and the nearby areas would experience daytime highs of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Mainly clear skies, and maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 40°C and 28 °C, respectively, for the next 48 hours in Hyderabad. Surface winds are likely to be north-westerlies, with wind speeds around 6–10 kmph.
