On Sunday, an inebriated man went on a violent rampage, stripping a woman and assaulting another woman who tried to intervene and stop the horrendous act. The incident took place at the Jawaharnagar Police Station Limits. The accused was identified as 30-year-old Peddamaraiah, a daily wage labourer, hailing from Jawaharnagar.

According to police, Peddamaraiah, known for his addiction to alcohol, was accompanied by his mother as they made their way home from the Balajinagar Bus Stand at around 8:30 pm. At the same time, a young woman, aged around 28, was returning from a shop nearby. Peddamaraiah approached the young woman and touched her inappropriately. Shocked, the victim forcefully pushed the accused away. In a fit of rage, Peddamaraiah stripped the woman and started verbally abusing her.

Another woman, who was riding her bike, noticed the assault and confronted the accused, However, Peddamaraiah assaulted the other woman too which was captured by the security cameras. Shockingly, Peddamaraiah's mother, who was present at the scene, did not intervene.

Passersby, who noticed the naked woman on the road, only around 15 minutes later, provided a blanket and escorted her to safety. They also informed the police who then took Peddamaraiah into custody. A case was registered and the accused was booked under IPC sections 354 (b), 323, 506 r/w 34, (outraging modesty, criminal assault and intimidation, and criminal intent towards a common cause).
