HYDERABAD: An MBBS aspirant and a bright student Bommidika Sivaprasad Reddy (Application number 230410425815) is distraught now as he got low marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2023 than what he expected. The boy from Pedda Amberpet received only 280 marks but he was sure that he has really done the exam well and is sure of getting MBBS admission in a good college.

When he checked the key given by the National Test Agency, that conducted the exam with the answer sheet (OMR), to his surprise the marks he scored were 462. His father B Janga Reddy, who is a farmer, then took the details to 10 more people and got the sheet checked only to find that the NEET authorities have bungled the results.

Speaking to NewsTAP, Janga Reddy on Thursday said that the boy was depressed as he appeared for the NEET for the second time as last time and he was given only 282 marks. “I admitted him in long-term coaching hoping that he would do better and he did better this time,” he said.

On the night the results came, the father-son duo called everyone they knew to know why the marks were low when he had answered a fairly good number of questions out of 179. When Janga Reddy called the numbers given on the NEET website, the waiting was so long that they so far could not even register a complaint. They then wrote a letter to the authorities concerned at the e-mail address provided on the website.

As there was no separate fast-track grievance redressal mechanism to address issues like that of Sivaprasad Reddy, he is now running from pillar to post to ascertain the marks that he actually got. Now, they are consulting the college in Kothapet where he had studied to find out an easy way out of this predicament.
