HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and the Bahadurpura Police have apprehended a Nigerian national on charges of drug-peddling. The accused was arrested for illegally possessing cocaine within the Bahadurpura police station limits of Hyderabad on Tuesday.

According to the police, the drug seller Emmanuel Osandu, a Nigerian national, entered India on a student visa in 2016 and was living in Mumbai. He planned to sell cocaine to needy consumers in order to make quick money. He was earlier detained at Goregaon police station under the NDPS Act in December 2020.

Following his release from jail, he began obtaining the narcotic substance from a drug dealer and providing it to local peddlers. He even moved to Hyderabad on the advice of a local peddler on January 24, 2023, and was awaiting drug delivery at Bahadurpura.

Following credible information on January 24, 2023, when Emmanul Osondu was attempting to sell the drug in Bahadurpura, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), along with Bahadurpura police, apprehended him and seized five grams of cocaine and a mobile phone from his possession.

When questioned, the accused disclosed that a local peddler had purchased cocaine from him for personal consumption as well as to sell it to needy consumers. The consumers and the local peddler were yet to be identified.
