NYE 2024: Hyderabad police impose traffic diversions around Hussain Sagar

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police imposed traffic restrictions for the vehicular traffic around Hussain Sagar lake in order to facilitate proper traffic control and regulation in advance of the New Year celebrations on the intervening night of December 31 to January 1, 2024.

Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on NTR Marg, PVNR Marg (Necklace Road), and Upper Tank Bund from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the night between December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024.

The motorists are requested to take the following alternate routes

The vehicular traffic coming from V.V. Statue (Khairatabad) towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg via Khairtabad flyover will be detoured at V.V. Statue (Khairatabad) towards Nirankari and Raj Bhavan Road.

The vehicular traffic coming from BRK Bhavan towards NTR Marg will be diverted at Telugu Thalli Junction towards Iqbal Minar, Lakdikapul and Ayodhya junctions.

The vehicular traffic coming from Liberty Junction will not be allowed towards Upper Tank Bund. Hence commuters are requested to take a left at Ambedkar statue towards Telugu thalli, Iqbal Minar, Ravindra Bharathi and other alternate roads.

The vehicular traffic coming from Khairatabad Market and going towards Necklace Rotary will be diverted at Khairatabad (Bada Ganesh) towards Sensation Theatre, Rajdoot lane and Lakdikapul.

The Mint compound lane adjacent to the Secretariat will be closed for the general vehicular traffic.

The vehicular traffic coming from Nallagutta Railway Bridge will not be allowed towards Sanjeevaiah Park and PVNR Marg and will be diverted towards Ranigunj/Minister Road.

The vehicular traffic coming from Secunderabad will be diverted at the Sailing Club towards Kavadiguda X Roads, Lower Tank bund, Kattamaisamma Temple, left turn & Ashok Nagar, RTC X Roads.

All city flyovers will be closed to traffic on the night of December 31, 2023/January 1, 2024. However, the PVNR Express flyover will be available for passengers bound for the RGIA airport who present their air ticket.

Hyderabad traffic police will be undertaking extensive checks to curb

  • Drunken driving
  • Rash, Dangerous and Negligent driving
  • Over speeding
  • Triple riding on two wheelers and other traffic violations in the interest of public order and road safety.

Hyderabad police has appealed to follow traffic rules for their own safety and co-operate with the police personnel on duty.
