HYDERABAD: The SOT Maheshwaram Zone team, in collaboration with Balapur police station, apprehended two drug peddlers at Shivaji Chowk, Balapur, on Thursday and seized 24 grams of heroin along with two mobile phones from their possession.

On April 9, 2024, the SOT Maheshwaram Zone team, alongside Balapur Police, apprehended two individuals at Shivaji Chowk, Balapur, in possession of illegal heroin. During interrogation, the accused, Lal Babu (A1) Kumar from Bihar, confessed to hailing from Bihar and working at a DJ sound system shop in Saidabad for the past decade.

He further confessed that due to financial problems, he decided to procure drugs from Bihar and intended to sell them in Hyderabad for profit. He enlisted the assistance of his co-worker, Mohammed Mustaq (A2), by offering a share of the profits. To implement his plan, Lal Babu Kumar contacted a peddler/mediator named Pappu Kuswaha in his hometown and procured 24 grams of heroin from an individual named Aslam in Raxaul, Champaran District, Bihar, at Rs. 5,000 per gram.

Upon returning to Hyderabad, Lal Babu Kumar and Mustaq awaited an opportunity to sell the drugs to potential customers at Rs. 10,000 per gram. However, they were arrested by the police. Both accused are being produced in court for judicial remand. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the absconding accused, Aslam and Pappu Kuswaha.

SOT LB Nagar arrests a drug peddler with contraband substance Opium

In another case, the sleuths of SOT LB Nagar Zone team, along with Meerpet police station, apprehended one drug peddler and seized 1.5 KG of Contraband Substance Opium along with two mobile phones from their possession.

The accused person, Shiva (A1), is a native of Rajasthan, while the accused Agreewath Santosh Das (A2) earns a livelihood as a carpenter. Both individuals became friends and decided to procure opium from Lokesh of Madhya Pradesh state to sell in Hyderabad for profit. The accused, Santosh Das, provided money to Shiva for procuring 1.5 kg Opium.

Accordingly, Shiva obtained the opium from his known source, a former truck driver named Lokesh, and handed it over to Santosh Das. While intending to sell the opium at Rs. 5,000 per 25 grams, Santosh Das was apprehended by the police. The arrested accused are being produced in court for judicial remand.

SOT LB Nagar apprehends three interstate drug peddlers

In the third case, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone team, along with Choutuppal police, apprehended three persons: one interstate drug peddler, Jai Kishan, and two local peddlers, Hanuma Ram and Rajuram Vishnoi, while they were transporting narcotic drug i.e., Poppy Straw under the limits of Choutuppal police station. The police seized five kgs of Poppy Straw and other incriminating material from their possession. A case was registered under Cr. No. 232/2024 U/s. 21(c) & Sec. 29 of NDPS Act at Choutuppal police station.

On April 8, 2024, the sleuths of SOT Maheshwaram Zone team intercepted one Suzuki Burgman vehicle and apprehended one person named Mothilal Balaji Singh alias Balaji, opposite Highway Bawarchi Hotel, under the limits of Hayath Nagar Police Station. They recovered 11 kg of Ganja, two Suzuki Burgman motorcycles, and a mobile phone from his possession.

A case was registered Cr. No. 367/2024 U/s. 8 (c) r/w 20 (b) (ii) (A) of NDPS Act at Hayath Nagar police station.

Rachakonda police appeal to the general public

In recent times, several youths/students have been getting addicted to drugs/ganja, committing crimes, and engaging in other anti-social activities, affecting many families. Rachakonda police requested youths/students not to fall prey to drugs/ganja. Rachakonda police has urged to keep a close watch on their children's activities and feel free to approach the police or pass information to the police to combat such anti-social activities and strive for a drug-free city.

The above arrests were made under the direct supervision of Dr. Tarun Joshi, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and the guidance of K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, LB Nagar-Maheshwaram, SOT, Meerpet & Balapur police personnel.
