HYDERABAD: Rachakonda Police on Wednesday arrested two interstate drug peddlers from Odisha and seized 100 kilos of ganja, a four wheeler, two mobile phones and other incriminating materials worth Rs 35 lakh from them.

The arrested were identified as Bhuvan Saber (20) and Varun Kumar Patnayak (24), natives of Odisha. Both of them were working in a hardware shop in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Two more accused, Suresh, a native of Visakhapatnam, and Chotu from Maharashtra were absconding, the police said.

Disclosing the details to media, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police DS Chauhan said that the police investigation revealed that the duo came in contact with Suresh who had contact with ganja suppliers in Odisha. Suresh hatched a plan of transporting contraband dry ganja from Odisha to Pune, Maharastra with the help of Bhuvan and Varun Patyanak and offered money for them to transport dry ganja, he said

The CP said that as per their plan, the accused contacted one Chotu who was a ganja supplier in Maharashtra and made a deal to supply contraband dry Ganja to him. Bhuvan and Varun started from Odisha in a four-wheeler by loading 100 kgs of dry ganja procured from Suresh and were on their way to Pune to supply the ganja to Chotu, he said.

Based on a tip-off, sleuths of a special operations team, Malkajgiri Zone, along with Keesara police arrested Bhuvan Saber and Varun Kumar for indulging in transportation of contraband dry ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra via Hyderabad to earn money illegally, the CP added.
