HYDERABAD: Ramzan commenced in Hyderabad on Monday night with the sighting of the crescent moon.

The Markazi Ruyat E Hilaal Committee Sadar Majlis Ulema E Deccan officially declared the onset of the Holy Month, and the first day of fasting, or Roza, is scheduled for March 12 (Tuesday).

This year's fasting duration on the initial day will span 13 hours and 15 minutes, with Saheri concluding at 5:13 AM and the first Iftar at 6:45 PM. As the days progress, the duration of Rozas will gradually extend, reaching 14 hours and 08 minutes on the final day.

Notably, there will be four Fridays during this year's Ramzan, with Shab-e-Qadar, one of the three sacred nights, falling on April 6 (Saturday night) and Jumatul Vida, the last Friday of Ramzan, observed on April 5. Eid-ul-Fitr is anticipated on April 9 (Tuesday), contingent upon the sighting of the moon; otherwise, it will be celebrated on April 10.
