Rohit Vemula case to be probed further as mother has doubts over investigation: Telangana DGP
The Telangana Director-General of Police has decided to conduct further investigation into Rohit Vemula's case even though a final report was filed in the court of law.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Director-General of Police has decided to conduct further investigation into Rohit Vemula's case even though a final report was filed in the court of law.
In a statement late on Friday evening, the DGP said that "various news stories and reports are circulating on several print, electronic and social media channels regarding Crime No.20/2016 of Gachibowli Police Station, Cyberabad wherein Sri Rohit Vemula, a student of Hyderabad Central University had died by suicide on 17.01.2016. It is to state that the investigation officer in the case was Asst. Commissioner of Police, Madhapur and the final report in the case was prepared in the year 2018 based on the investigation conducted."

The DGP's statement also mentioned: "The final report was officially filed in the jurisdictional court on 21.03.2024 by the Investigation Officer. As some doubts have been expressed by the mother and others of the deceased Rohit Vemula on the investigation conducted, it has been decided to conduct further investigation into the case. A petition will be filed in the Court concerned requesting the Hon’ble Magistrate to permit further investigation into the case."
