HYDERABAD: Telangana High Court on Tuesday took up a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) suo moto following a letter addressed to the court by a 6th class student from Joseph Public School urging the court to direct relocation of Sai Yuva Bar, which is being run in a residential locality causing nuisance, to be relocated.

The PIL was taken up by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and sent it to a division bench which also has Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti.

In the letter written to the High Court, student Vaishnavi said that the bar was being run in the middle of the colony where she was living. The girl student also drew the attention of the Court, that a Lord Shiva temple was also being constructed in the colony. This was “shockingly” just 50 meters away from the bar.

Vaishnavi said that people began avoiding the temple only to avoid passing by the bar. Her letter also disclosed that the bar was playing loud music that ran till late in the nights and early in the mornings, causing serious disturbance to inmates of an old age home closer-by. She mentioned that the bar raised safety concerns as children were out attending coaching classes in evenings and were finding it difficult to pass by the bar in the dark.

Elders of the colony also stopped emerging out of their homes for evening walk, as they were uncomfortable with the atmosphere created by the bar. She urged the Court to direct the bar to be relocated to an area which was not so densely covered by residential houses and educational institutions.
