HYDERABAD: The speed limit on the major access route to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been increased from 60 to 80 kilometres per hour on Monday.

RGIA Vice President and Head Ground Transportation RGIA K. Sanjay Kapu Raju had approached the Cyberabad traffic police for permission to revise the speed restrictions and implement an enforcement system on the RGI Airport's major access road.

SHO RGIA, Shamshabad Traffic Police enquired about the proposal for clearance to increase the speed limit from 60 KMPH to 80 KMPH, as well as an enforcement system on the RGI Airport's major access route.

The traffic police granted the permission after conducting a comprehensive investigation of the situation on the ground. The traffic police research found that there would be no traffic concerns if the speed restrictions on the major access road at RGI were increased because the road surface is in good condition with sufficient drainage systems.

In addition, the SHO obtained a letter from the full time officer, NAC, in which he stated that, based on the road design details provided, there is no objection to maintaining the design speed of the main access road in RGIA premises Shamshabad Hyderabad at 80 KM/Hr.
