HYDERABAD: NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, marked a significant milestone as it hosted its twentieth annual convocation on Saturday. This prestigious event saw the presence of eminent legal luminaries and dignitaries, including Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Judge, Supreme Court of India, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Notably, NALSAR University is on the cusp of completing 25 years of its illustrious academic journey, a remarkable feat in the field of legal education. To commemorate this achievement, Justice Kaul delivered the second silver jubilee lecture, imparting valuable insights and wisdom.

Adding to the grace of the convocation was Justice P.S. Narasimha, another luminary from the Supreme Court of India, who attended as a Guest of Honour. Justice Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of the High Court of Telangana, presided over the convocation as the Chancellor of NALSAR University of Law.

Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, took the opportunity to present the annual report of the University's remarkable activities. He emphasised the institution's steady growth over the past 25 years, highlighting its diverse offerings, including full-time programmes in law and management, as well as a range of degrees and diplomas available through distance and nline modes.

In this academic year alone, NALSAR has welcomed nearly 1,100 full-time students. The vice-chancellor shared ambitious plans for the future, which include introducing new programmes, undertaking research projects, and engaging in legal aid activities to serve marginalized communities in Telangana.

Leading the convocation procession was Prof. K. Vidyullatha Reddy, the diligent Registrar of NALSAR.

The convocation reached its pinnacle with the conferring of degrees and diplomas upon the accomplished candidates of 2023. Six candidates received their Ph.D. degrees, while graduates from various programmres, such as LL.M., M.B.A., Five-Year Integrated B.A.,LL.B. (Hons.), and seven M.A. programmes offered in the distance and online mode, were honored with their respective degrees.

The celebration of excellence didn't stop there. Gold medals shone brightly, recognising outstanding academic performance. Krishnnaunni emerged as the B.A.,LL.B. batch-topper, receiving a remarkable seven gold nedals, closely followed by Nishtha Gupta, who secured the second position and was honored with 4 gold medals.

Justice Kaul, in his address, shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of legal education. He emphasised the importance of varied teaching methodologies, including the case method and Socratic Dialogue, along with the integration of experiential learning within classrooms.

He advised the graduating students to be receptive to knowledge and seek guidance from experienced mentors. He highlighted diverse career paths for law graduates, including litigation, judicial services, commercial law firms, and academia, encouraging graduates to also prioritise their well-being and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The convocation concluded with the recognition of faculty members for their research contributions and the formal release of several books and journals published by the University, symbolizing NALSAR's continuous commitment to the advancement of legal knowledge and education.
