HYDERABAD: Congress leaders who were suspended recently by the Congress took strong exception to the move and protested in front of Bhagyalakshmi Temple on Tuesday. The leaders had alleged that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy had taken bribe for MLA tickets .

The leaders said that they had gathered evidence about Revanth Reddy and took their concerns to the party leadership. However, they said that instead of addressing the issue, they were suspended from the party without any explanation.

TPCC secretary Dr Kuruva Vijay Kumar from Gadwal constituency, Ragidi Lakshma Reddy from Uppal and Khaleem Baba from Bahadurpura Constituency, gathered before Bhagyalakshmi temple in Charminar and staged a demonstration on Tuesday. The agitating leaders raised slogans, took an oath and demanded that Revanth Reddy should come to the temple and also take an oath to prove his innocence.

Speaking to media, Dr Kuruva Vijay Kumar strongly criticised Revanth Reddy and labelled him as a threat to the TPCC. “Despite supporting the party financially in my capacity, Revanth Reddy still demanded money to allocate a ticket for me. I have been humiliated by the TPCC president after refusing to give him money,” he said.

Vijay Kumar also demanded that Revanth Reddy come to Bhagyalakshmi temple along with his grandson and take an oath and announce that he did not collect money to allocate tickets to candidates. The Telangana Congress party leadership was facing a challenge to address all the allegations and imbibe confidence among its supporters, he added.
