HYDERABAD: Telangana State is home to 64 percent of all closed circuit cameras in the country, said Home Minister Mohammed Ali, who unveiled a vast network of 2,306 CCTV cameras on Monday at the Telangana State Police Integrated Command Control Centre (TSPICCC).

These advanced cameras, funded by the Safe City initiative, were installed across the Tri-Commissionerates and linked to the command control centre.

Mahmood Ali, while discussing the best practises followed by Telangana State police, described the journey of Telangana State Police and how it rose to become one of the best police forces in the country by leveraging innovative technology and practises.

He said that Telangana was home to 64 percent of the total closed circuit cameras in the country. He hailed Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand and the entire team for their commitment to expanding the network with advanced cameras.

DGP Anjani Kumar emphasised the importance of the newly installed camera network, particularly its prompt availability in advance of important festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad. The massive screens symbolise the State government's massive commitment to public safety, he added.

City police commissioner and TSPICCC Director CV Anand, highlighted the significant advancements made since its inception. He highlighted the expansion of the centre, including the establishment of new bureaus like Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) and the Cyber Security Bureau, integrating camera feeds and sensor data from other departments, and also shared that teams were on the verge of integrating various other systems like Dial 100, etc.

TSPICCC was transformed into a full-fledged multi-agency operations and disaster management centre, as envisioned by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.This year, all departments would monitor the Ganesh immersions and Milad Julus from TSPICCC, he added.

Mahmood Ali also inaugurated the War Room, which facilitates the assembly of top functionaries in the government and HODs of all departments during crisis to mitigate it at the earliest possible time through heightened and quick decision-making. The gallery of CCTV cameras would also be accessible to the public through a viewer's gallery.

A comprehensive presentation was delivered by Pushpa, SP-Technical, TSPICCC, and explained the advanced features and capabilities of the facility during the event. This huge network augments the existing CCTV infrastructure, further enhancing the state's capacity to ensure public safety.
