HYDERABAD: Slow traffic movement was witnessed at Chikur Balaji Temple from Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) via Aziz Nagar in view of the annual Brahmotsavam in Hyderabad on Friday.

According to reports, it was a nightmare for commuters driving on this stretch, as many school buses were stuck due to the heavy traffic. Many commuters even alleged that it was not just slow traffic movement but rather jam-packed traffic on ORR and across Himayatsagar connecting roads for almost three hours.

Several commuters criticised Cyberabad traffic police for not issuing an advisory in advance for the annual Brahmotsavam scheduled for April 19, 2024. One commuter who drove from Sun City to Gachibowli was reportedly stuck in a traffic jam for three hours.

Arjun Reddy, one of the commuters, took to 'X' to express his frustration as he was stuck in traffic for almost three hours. He said, "It has been almost three hours since we got stuck in this route. The least you people could have done is issue an advisory the previous day."

Another commuter, A Vinay Kumar, said, "A traffic advisory should have been sent out the prior day, and especially schools and colleges on this route should have declared a holiday. Kids are just sitting in buses for two to three hours stuck in traffic. It's insane."

Another commuter, Rinkey Nanda, said, "It would have been better if some advisory was issued well in advance about the Brahmotsavam and the possibility of traffic congestion. It would have helped the schools also plan well ahead. Now, small kids are stuck in traffic for the past two hours and have not yet reached school."

One commuter, Niranjan, said, "Seriously, what the hell are you guys doing? Deadlock traffic jam near Balaji Temple, don’t know when to return home safely. Please focus on traffic problems instead of collecting challans."
