HYDERABAD: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), which is implementing innovative programs giving sops to the passengers of late, has come up with a new idea of supplying snack box to passengers travelling in the TSRTC buses.

The TSRTC in principle approved to provide snack box containing multi-millet Khakra, millet chikki, tissue paper, and mouth freshener in the electric Garuda buses plying between Hyderabad and Vijayawada as a pilot project. The service will be commenced on Saturday in nine electric Garuda buses at a nominal cost of Rs. 30 to be collected in the ticket price itself.

According to TSRTC, the idea to provide snack box has come in the wake of the United Nations Organisation declaring the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets to promote health and strengthen the immune system. TSRTC aims to provide nutritional food to distant travellers as part of the UNO decision.

TSRTC chairman Bajireddy Govardhan Reddy and MD VC Sajjanar who lauded and thanked the passengers for supporting the programs launched by the corporation urged them to support the latest decision of supplying snack box to the passengers in the buses and requested to give suggestions on the programs through QR code provided on the snack box to enhance the quality.

It is learned that the program would be extended to the rest of the services based on feedback from the passengers.
