HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has decided in principle to implement the 'Dynamic pricing' system for online ticket booking. However, it is said that the system will be launched as a pilot project in 46 services running through the Bangalore route.

Speaking to media at Bus Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday, TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govardhan, MLA, MD VC Sajjanar disclosed the details of the dynamic pricing policy to this extent and announced that the new system would be made available from March 27 in the buses traveling towards Bangalore from Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, and Khammam.

The chairman and MD said that the dynamic pricing system would be implemented in the same as it was being done in the booking of flights, hotels, and private bus operators where there was a facility for online ticket booking.

According to the TSRTC officials, the ticket prices would be fluctuating with a dynamic pricing system depending on the demand from the passengers wherein the prices of tickets would be reduced by 30 percent when there were less number of passengers and the prices would be hiked by 25 percent when passengers are in high. The officials said that the charges were determined using advanced data analysis and machine learning algorithms.

The TSRTC MD said that it had decided to introduce a dynamic pricing system in online ticket booking to compete with private agencies and attract passengers. He also said that the passengers could book the seat of their choice through the online booking system and asserted that the tickets would be available online till one hour before the service started. He advised the passengers to book the tickets on the official website www.tsrtconline.in.
