VISAKHAPATNAM: Two persons were killed and five others were seriously injured after a three-storied building collapsed on Wednesday midnight at Ramajogipet under Maharanipet police station near Visakhapatnam Collectorate.
The deceased were identified as Saketi Anjali (14) and Durga Prasad (17), while the injured as Kommishetti Siva Shankara, Saketi Rama Rao, Saketi Kalyani, Sunnapu Krishna, and Satika Roja Rani and were shifted to KGH Hospital.
Upon receiving the information, the police, along with the fire brigade, NDRF, and revenue teams arrived at the spot and carried out rescue operations. The police retrieved the bodies of the dead and injured from debris and searching for another victim named Chotu who got still struck in the debris.
Meanwhile, the incident left panic among the people residing in the surrounding areas. DCP Sumit Garuda inspected the incident spot and launched the investigation.
